| Office Humor |
We have a new lady helping us process returns this tax season, so we have had a lot of fun with her as she is getting to know the clients and mispronouncing their names. However, this morning a client made the best mistaken name joke thus far. Unfortunately I didn't get to hear the conversation firsthand, but it went something like this:
Elderly woman - "I'm here to see...oh, what's his name? Mr. Smallwood?"
Receptionist - "Could it be Mr. Underwood?"
Elderly woman - small chuckle "Well, at least I was close."
Apparently, neither woman saw the humor in the exchange, but I haven't been able to stop laughing since I heard about it. I think my coworkers are starting to get suspicious. I'd better get back to work. |

So here I am at Mom's house still... Some of our stuff is here, some is still in IA... Still no job prospects to speak of, but Ben *IS* studying very hard at his piano tuning apprenticeship. Should be "only" a few months before he can start making money at that, but one of us is going to need to start making money in the next month or so. He's preached at the tiny church my family goes to, and may continue at least some of the time my dad isn't around to preach...
Ben keeps trying to fill out applications, but there's always SOMETHING wrong. Several required him to bring in his Social Security card or his passport. Both of those items are in IA. We'll get those next trip. Several required him to have his own transportation, and so required the license plate number from the vehicle he'd be using. THAT'S when we discovered our car's license plate has been expired since JUNE. DANG... So now I guess I'm going to try to get a license for the car HERE? Even though we don't know where we'll be LIVING by summer... *sigh*
I'm thinking of entering some food contests... Now to come up with some good recipes... Or at least write down the ones I use! I tend to just throw ingredients in until it looks good, so actually WRITING DOWN a recipe might be difficult... Heh. I just made a killer good low-carb cheesecake, so that might go to the "light cooking" contest... Yum. Now if I can just make a good caramel sauce without sugar, I'll be GOLDEN.
What else is going on... Oh, Cadence has two teeth now! She's eating tons of Cheerios and crackers, and really likes being able to pick up her own food... Raylee and AZ have been playing outside a lot the last couple days; they've really enjoyed the warm sunny weather! I'll have to get some good pictures one of these days... AZ is really just rolling with the punches as far as the living arrangement upheaval, but Raylee isn't quite as willing to go along... She's regressed a little, trying to get all the attention, but that's kind of expected... She'll come around...
Anyway, I have a few things to get done before Cadence wakes up from her nap, so I'll be off!

| Fumes |
So the other day while working, a lithium battery pack falls out of my truck and into a puddle.
This is not a good thing as lithium batteries have a tendency to explode from moisture.
Where to keep a battery that could explode?
I couldn't keep it in the cab with me and if I just threw it in the back it would be over the fuel tank.
So I placed it in a 3' stainless steel cheater bar in the side tool box.
I figured it would be safe there.
This afternoon while working at a site I noticed a small gas smell from around the truck.
Turns out that the gas can I had bought during a previous post was upside down leaking gas into the bed of the truck and filling the whole back of the truck with fumes.
So, right now the back of the truck if filled with gas fumes and has a slightly unstable battery pack.
Currently in South Dakota with nothing exciting happening... Yet. |
| At the airport |
I'm at the airport in Kansas city now, yay for free wifi! My iPod touch is not easiest thing to type on. |
| We just got our computer back... |
...just in time to go to mom's house. Of course. But at least they fixed it, cleaned off all the viruses and installed a new anti-virus/spyware something. That's a happy thing.
I'm here at mom's house, and I hope they don't mind that I added a few pictures to their picture folder... I just had to post some, since it's been a while!
We were at mom's most of the week before Valentine's Day, and the cousins got to hang out a bit: |
